For the February meeting, we welcome Mills Kelly, a historian, a podcaster, a hiker and backpacker, a photographer, an author, and an award-winning educator at George Mason University. He maintains one of the most historic shelters on the Appalachian Trail and is the archivist of the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC).
He will give a presentation on his next project: a biography of a Danish American vagabond who was known as “The Apostle of Happiness.” This “apostle” lived in the U.S. for more than 50 years and spent his days trying to convince people to be happy. He was also a bit of a kook. It’s a fun story. Who doesn’t want to be happy?!
